Feathered Frenzy > Blue Headed Pionus
|
The blue headed pionus is probably the prettiest of the pionus parrots. Once they get their adult feathering at approximately one year of age, they have a sleek dark green body with a cobalt blue head. These are the types of birds referred to as "perfect parrots," in that they are fairly quiet compared to other parrots, are not overly aggressive, and have some talking ability. They are not as hands-on as a macaw or amazon, however. This family of birds makes a wheezing noise when scared.
