Dusky Pionus < Feathered Frenzy

Of all the pionus parrots kept as pets, the Dusky is the least common, though its popularity is increasing. It is a beautifully colored bird, getting its name from the colors of sunset at dusk, not any reference at all to the brightness of the feathers. They are a subtle mix of reds, blues, purple and grey. They are one of the smallest members of this genus and also the noisiest. Don't let that fool you - they're still quieter than most other parrots. Their personality is to be curious, social, and intelligent. They aren't cuddly, but they love to be out and about and involved in whatever you're doing.
