Feathered Frenzy > Gouldian Finch
|
Lady Gouldian Finches are a beautiful addition to any aviary. Though they don't lend much to the environment through song, their flashy colors and passive personality make them pretty to look at, and good neighbors too. The normal, or wild-type coloration is called the "Red Headed." The male has a red mask, bordered in black, with blue surrounding the black, then a green back and lovely purple chest. The female is always a paler, much more drab version of the male. At a pet store, you can expect to pay $100 for the normal color mutation, per bird. Compare to less than half the price at a private breeder. The fancier mutations can cost as much as $250 per specimen.
