In this section we recognize the greater and lesser sulfur crested cockatoos. The medium sulfur cresteds are normally called Eleanora, which we have a separate section for. These cockatoos are snow white with vibrant yellow crest feathers that stick up when the bird is excited. When they are calm or at rest it lays flat against their head, sticking out a bit at the back. These birds are very cuddly and love to play. They need a steady supply of toys to destroy in addition to several hours of attention daily, lest they become bored. Cockatoos are very prone to plucking, and by providing a lot of stimulation you can help avoid this problem. This species is also very noisy and requires a large cage.
